Vote Like You Have Never Voted Before
by Phil Branch

This first post should be a good indicator of what I hope to be one of a few on-going topics, "the state of our United States"."Vote like you've perhaps never voted before!" I heard this great analogy recently while listening to Brannon Howse web broadcast at http://www.worldviewmatters.net/ ,"Don't Drink and Drive", Don't drive when you are incapable of making good choices. Likewise, don't pull the "party" handle, Don't press the button to elect someone or anyone that you don't know anything about. That mentality should start at the top, with the Presidential race, the laws your Congressmen and Representative are proposing and filter all the way down to your local level issues. We all have concerns about where the government has been, where it is today and where is it going for our children and grand-children. One of the freedoms that we still have is voting. First and foremost we all should be taking advantage of that right. I know that in my 40 some years there were times that I sat on my hands and failed to exercise my voting privilege. I guess now that my years are growing shorter I am better recognizing how I failed to pursue our rights, freedoms and liberties by not always playing an active, responsible role in the election process. Well, I am now and am asking of "all" to do the same. As elections draw near we should all be evaluating those running for office. We should learn as much as possible about the candidates in question. We should not hang our hats on a single topic that we happen to agree upon that a particular candidate may be espousing. What else does that candidate have in store for us? It's the "else" that could far out weigh the reason we would vote for him or her.

So, I ask you all "Vote perhaps as you have never voted before!" Some are saying about the presidential race, we don't have much to choose from. -or- I don't like either one so I'm not going to vote! Consider the fact that this year it is highly unlikely an independent could win the upcoming Presidential election. Voting for an independent would perhaps make a personal statement, however would it affect change? Likely not. So, ultimately we have two choices. Please, take the time to learn more about each candidate and make two intelligent decisions. One, to vote! The other, use your head, heart and life’s experiences and vote for the candidate that will best affect you currently and remember... a Presidents decisions today can and will no doubt affect your children and their children in the future.

How refreshing to discover an Editorial not biased and still portraying the importance of our future with this upcoming election!
We tend to think that our vote does not count, but it does!
Thank you, Phil, for spreading the word that we All need to vote!

Great blog! Yes! the voter is the one who ultimately affects the change that we so loudly are calling for...and if we as a people don't utilize our rights to vote, then we have no VOICE in the matter of who runs our country for the next 4 years...
One other very important factor in this voting year is the power of prayer...If we as Christians will fall on our knees in earnest prayer for the right man to go in...God will hear and you will know the right man to vote for... He will reveal info about the right one to you, thru the media and Christian talk radio...We must be discerning and listen to God's still small voice...so that we can be the VOICE that makes a difference in our world...

Pam,

I agree that prayer is imperative, Pam. In fact, those with discernment are required to pray as they are responsible for their wisdom. May we receive mercy! That is my prayer. But the day after the election, my hope and comfort is that God puts in place the leaders of any land. It is all to His glory.
