Happy Fathers Day!
by Phil Branch

Happy Fathers Day To All!

May God Bless all the Fathers... Our task, being Fathers is immense. It not just being the provider in worldly ways of food, clothing, shelter and sustenance. It's also and more importantly our task to share the word of Jesus Christ. We should make sure that those in our household know the path to salvation.

2 Timothy 3:16-17. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

No matter what you read from the bible, no matter of the known author of any chapter, the message came from "God". We as fathers are to share and guide our children and family with the His word.

Proverbs 22:6. Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

We as fathers should start early teaching the only way is God's way. Giving our children the opportunity to follow and continue teaching of the way of the Lord in their lives. Many of us fathers (including me) likely have not followed this example, yet I am confident it is never too late. Take up the challenge no matter what time it is in your life. Be a servant to your children and family. Remember it's the servant's that will be blessed. Your guidance will give those you serve an opportunity to become servants themselves.

Ephesians 6:4. And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

Although the use of "fathers" in the bible technically refers to male parents it was also used as parents in general. So when we as fathers or mothers having to assume a fatherly role should teach the word of God in a kind, gentle yet structured manner so as not to provoke our children. Paul teaches us that a Christian father's authority over his children does not allow for unreasonable demands and strictures that might drive his children to anger, despair or resentment. [MacArturs Study Bible]

Deuteronomy 6:5. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

There is much to teach and guide our children. The heart of our teachings should surround the message above.

May God Bless all the Fathers...
